Cookie Policy
Last updated: October 2026
In short: I always count visits, in aggregate and without cookies, because I need these numbers to run the site. Only with your consent do I add the Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity cookies. There is no advertising on the site, I do not profile you and I do not sell your data.
What cookies are
Cookies are small files a site can store on your device; other data kept in the browser, such as localStorage, can serve the same purpose. They keep the page working, remember preferences or, in other cases, measure browsing for statistics.
How it works on this site
The banner tells three things apart:
- Necessary: what the site needs to work, for example remembering your choice and your language or protecting the contact form from spam. Always on, no consent needed.
- Statistics: counting visits without cookies is always on (see below). The Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity cookies only start if you consent.
- Marketing: none. There is no advertising on the site and I do not profile you, so the banner has no Marketing switch.
Counting visits, even if you decline
Even if you decline everything, the site counts that a page was viewed. Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, then receives a simple measurement request with the page visited, where you came from and the type of device and browser, with no cookies and no identifier stored on your device: later visits are not recognized and the numbers stay in aggregate. As with any web request, Google also receives technical data such as the IP address.
I need these numbers to see which pages are useful and to run the site. That is why the count is always on. If you consent to Statistics, the Google Analytics cookies (which recognize repeat visits) and Microsoft Clarity are added.
I also count how often the cookie banner appears and which choice is made (day, choice, Switzerland or not, banner or settings), without cookies and without any identifier. This shows me how many visitors consent.
If you visit from Switzerland (I recognize it by the time zone set in your browser), Swiss data protection law applies: the Google Analytics cookies are set from the first page, based on my overriding interest in knowing how the site is used (art. 31 FADP and art. 45c TCA), and the banner tells you so on your first visit. You can object at any time by switching Statistics off in the cookie preferences: I delete those cookies at once and count your visits only without cookies, as described above. Microsoft Clarity still starts only if you choose "Accept all"; the "Without recording" button refuses Clarity only.
Third-party tools
These services come into play under their own policies:
- Google Tag Manager: loads the statistics tools below and respects your choice (Google Consent Mode v2). It does not profile by itself.
- Google Analytics 4: counting visits without cookies for everyone; with your consent also the Google Analytics cookies (page views, source, device, repeat visits). Google privacy policy.
- Microsoft Clarity (only after consent): heat maps and recordings of how the site is used, to improve usability. Microsoft privacy statement.
- Cloudflare: the site is delivered through the Cloudflare network, which protects it from attacks, and the contact form uses Cloudflare Turnstile against spam. Turnstile sets no cookie on this site. Cloudflare privacy policy.
- Fonts: fonts are hosted on this site, not loaded from external servers. No data shared with third parties to render the design.
- Contact form provider: when you submit the form, the data passes through the service that delivers the messages, which may use technical cookies.
- WhatsApp / Meta: if you click the WhatsApp button you are taken to a channel run by Meta, under its own data and cookie rules.
How to manage cookies
Your choice is valid for 12 months, then the banner appears again. You can change or withdraw it at any time: when you withdraw, I delete the cookies and stored data of that category. If you clear this site's browsing data in your browser, the banner reappears on your next visit.
You can always block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Official guides: Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge. Disabling technical cookies may limit some site features.
The full list
Here is every cookie, browser storage entry and tracking request on this site, grouped the way the banner groups them. If something is not on this list, the site does not use it.
Necessary
| Name | Provider | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
et_consent | Erika Taranto | Local storage | Stores your choice in the cookie banner (statistics yes/no, time). | 12 months, then I ask again |
et_lang | Erika Taranto | Cookie, first party | Remembers the language of the website, chosen by you in the language menu or detected once from your browser language, so the site does not switch language again on every visit. | 1 year |
et_lang | Erika Taranto | Session storage | Keeps your language choice for this visit when the browser blocks cookies. It stays in this browser tab and is never sent anywhere. | Until you close the browser |
sb-cta-off, dos-stk, s3-stk, et-home2b-stk, et-stk-closed | Erika Taranto | Session storage | Remember that you closed one of the floating invitation boxes at the bottom of a page, so it does not come back during this visit. Interface preference only; it stays in this browser tab and is never sent anywhere. | Until you close the browser |
Cloudflare Turnstile | Cloudflare (challenges.cloudflare.com) | Request without storage Active without consent | Spam protection of the forms. The script loads when you click into a form field or when a form comes close to the visible area, and checks that you are not a bot; Cloudflare receives technical data of the request such as the IP address. It sets no cookie on this website. | Per request, nothing is stored |
__cf_bm | Cloudflare | Cookie, first party Active without consent | Set by Cloudflare only when its bot protection is active for this website, to tell human visitors from bots and to protect the website from attacks. It does not track you across websites. | 30 minutes |
/cs (banner count) | Erika Taranto | Request without storage Active without consent | Counts how often the cookie banner appears and which choice is made. The request carries only the event, the choice, Switzerland or not, banner or settings; my server keeps these values with the day, without IP address, without cookies and without any ID. | Per request, nothing is stored in the browser |
Statistics
| Name | Provider | Type | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
Google Analytics 4 (cookieless count) | Google (googletagmanager.com, google-analytics.com) | Request without storage Active without consent | Counts page views and events in aggregate without a cookie or stored visitor ID, so returning visits are not recognized. Google receives the technical data of the request, such as the IP address and browser. | Per request, nothing is stored |
_ga | Google (Analytics 4) | Cookie, first party | Tells visitors apart so that returning visits can be counted. | up to 2 years |
_ga_3KDDLP1Q04 | Google (Analytics 4) | Cookie, first party | Stores the session state of my website measurement. | up to 2 years |
_clck | Microsoft (Clarity) | Cookie, first party | Stores the Clarity user ID and preferences so recordings are attributed to the same visitor. | up to 1 year |
_clsk | Microsoft (Clarity) | Cookie, first party | Connects several page views into one session recording. | 1 day |
CLID, ANONCHK, MR, MUID, SM | Microsoft (clarity.ms) | Cookie, third party | Microsoft cookies on the clarity.ms domain that Clarity can set when it loads (recognizing the same browser across Clarity sites, synchronization). | from 10 minutes to 13 months (depending on the cookie) |
